Cointreau has unveiled
a redesign of its iconic amber bottle. As an ode to the history of Maison
Cointreau, the new design combines elements of the past, present and future.
The new
bottle features a minimal illustration of the historic Maison scattered with
the spirit’s key ingredient of oranges and is embellished with Cointreau’s
signature copper foiling. The Maison is also featured in an engraving on the
side of the bottle.
A
slight update to the shape of the bottle has included the lengthening of the
neck, making pouring the spirit easier for mixology professionals and home
bartenders. The lid has also been updated with an embossed pattern. A QR code
is also featured on the bottle, connecting consumers to the original margarita
recipe, as well as many others.
The new
design release occurs alongside the 75th anniversary of the original margarita,
the ever-popular combination of Cointreau, blanco tequila and lime. Cointreau
says Australia’s love of the drop is showing no sign of slowing down, reporting
an increase in its standard 700ml case sales by 40 per cent in the last three
years alone.
A
recipe that remains unchanged, distilled with a combination of sweet and bitter
orange peel to produce a crystal-clear spirit, Cointreau continues to be a
staple for drinks lovers around the world and is featured in over 350 classic
cocktails.
